Call routing

After call work

Give agents time after each call to tag, log, and prepare before the next conversation.

Answering a call is only part of the job. After the conversation ends, agents often need a moment to write up notes, update a record, tag the call, or simply reset before the next call comes in. If the queue immediately offers the next caller the instant someone hangs up, those steps get skipped and quality suffers over the course of a day.

After-call work, configured in Voxbi as wrap-up time on a queue, adds a controlled pause between the end of one call and the moment the agent becomes available for the next. During wrap-up, the agent is not rung. The queue continues serving other agents and holding callers. When the wrap-up period ends, the agent re-enters the rotation automatically. The length of the pause is set by the administrator in the Voxbi Cockpit and applies to every agent in that queue.

When you'd use after-call work

  • A support team handles technical queries that require a ticket or case note after every call, and agents need a consistent window to complete this without pressure.

  • A sales queue has post-call steps (updating a pipeline, scheduling a follow-up) that take a predictable amount of time after each conversation.

  • A busy reception queue runs agents hard during peak hours, and a short wrap-up window protects call quality by preventing back-to-back calls with no recovery time.

How after-call work works in Voxbi

  1. Open the queue in the Voxbi Cockpit

Navigate to the Queues section and open the queue where you want to configure wrap-up time.

  2. Set the wrap-up time field

In the queue dial parameters section, set the wrap-up time value. This is the number of seconds the agent is held out of rotation after each call ends.

  3. Agents complete their post-call tasks

When a call finishes, the agent is not offered another call for the duration set. They use this window to log, tag, or prepare. No manual action is needed from the agent to start or stop the wrap-up period.

Frequently asked questions

Can agents extend or skip wrap-up time themselves?

The wrap-up time is set at the queue level by an administrator. There is no documented agent-side control to extend or skip it, so check your Voxbi plan or contact support if per-agent overrides are needed.

Does wrap-up time affect all ring policies?

Wrap-up time is a queue-level setting and applies regardless of which ring policy (round robin, fewest calls, least recent, ring all, or random) is active. The agent simply rejoins the pool after the pause.

What happens to callers waiting in the queue during an agent's wrap-up period?

Callers already in the queue continue to wait and are connected to the next available agent who is not in wrap-up. The queue keeps working normally; only the individual agent in wrap-up is temporarily unavailable.
