Blind transfer
Send a call straight to a colleague in one step, no consultation needed.
A blind transfer sends an active call straight to another extension or number without any conversation between you and the receiving party first. The caller is redirected the moment you confirm the destination, and you are free to take your next call immediately.
This is the right choice when the recipient is obviously the right person and no handover briefing is needed: a caller who pressed the wrong IVR option, a question clearly meant for a specific department, or a simple redirect to a direct line. Where an attended transfer trades speed for context, a blind transfer trades context for speed.
When you'd use blind transfer
A main reception number receives a call for a specific colleague by name, and you redirect it to their extension without needing to speak to them first.
A caller has reached the wrong department and needs to go straight to the right one, a situation where the reason for the call is already obvious.
A team member steps away mid-conversation and a nearby colleague agrees to take the call, so you redirect it immediately.
