Block lists

Reject spam and unwanted callers automatically with custom block lists.

Nuisance calls waste time and lower morale, especially for teams that depend on their phones to do their jobs. A receptionist who has to handle a stream of robocalls is a receptionist who is not available for the call that matters. Voxbi's block list solves this at the system level: add a number or a number prefix to the list, and calls from that source are rejected automatically before they ever ring a phone or enter a queue.

The block list is managed from the Voxbi Cockpit by any administrator with the appropriate access. Entries can be individual numbers or prefixes, which lets you block an entire range with a single rule rather than adding numbers one by one as they appear.

When you'd use block lists

  • A business that receives repeated nuisance or spam calls from a handful of recognisable numbers. Adding them to the block list means the calls are rejected silently at the system level and nobody has to handle them.

  • An organisation that is being targeted by calls from a specific area code or country code known to be a source of fraud. A single prefix rule blocks the entire range, so new numbers from the same source are also rejected without further action.

  • A contact centre or support team that has identified specific numbers responsible for abusive or malicious calls. The block list removes those callers from the queue entirely, protecting the team and keeping capacity available for legitimate calls.

How block lists work in Voxbi

  1. Open the blacklisted numbers screen

In the Voxbi Cockpit, navigate to the blacklisted numbers section. This screen lists all currently blocked numbers and prefixes and gives you the tools to add, search, and manage entries.

  2. Add a number or a prefix

Click to add a new entry and enter the phone number you want to block. To block an entire range, enter the prefix (for example, a country code or area code) and mark the entry as a prefix rule. All numbers beginning with that sequence will be rejected.

  3. Search and manage the list

The list can be searched and filtered in real time. Entries moved to the trash can be restored if a number was blocked by mistake. The full list can be exported for record-keeping or to share with another system.

  4. Blocked callers are rejected automatically

When a call arrives from a number on the list, Voxbi rejects it immediately. The caller hears a busy signal. No one on your team sees the call, and it does not consume queue capacity or ring time.

Frequently asked questions

What does a blocked caller experience?

A caller whose number is on the block list hears a busy signal. The call is rejected at the system level before it reaches any extension, queue, or voicemail, so it does not ring anywhere and does not consume any of your team's time.

Can I block a whole country code or area code at once?

Yes. When you add a block list entry, you can mark it as a prefix rule rather than a full number. Voxbi then rejects any call where the incoming number starts with that prefix. A single rule can cover an entire number range, which is useful when nuisance calls arrive from varied numbers within a recognisable block.

What if I accidentally block a number I need?

Entries you delete are moved to the trash rather than removed permanently. The block list screen has a trash filter that shows deleted entries, and any entry can be restored from there. This means a mistaken block can be undone quickly without having to re-enter the number.

Is there a limit to the number of entries on the block list?

There is no fixed cap set out for the number of entries. The list can be searched and filtered so it stays manageable at scale, and it can be exported if you need to work with it outside the Cockpit.
