Parallel calls

Put a conversation on hold and start a second call at the same time.

Not every call can wait for you to finish the one you are already on. A colleague needs a quick answer, a supplier is trying to reach you, or you need to loop in a third party while keeping the original caller on the line. Parallel calls let you put your current conversation on hold and start a second call, then switch between the two at will.

This is standard behaviour in the Voxbi app. When you are already in a call, the option to start a second one remains available. The first caller hears your hold music while you speak to the second party. Neither call is dropped. When you are done with one side you can swap back, or end whichever call is complete.

When you'd use parallel calls

  • You are speaking with a customer and need to call a colleague quickly to check a fact before giving an answer.

  • A second incoming call arrives while you are already busy, and it is important enough to answer rather than send to voicemail.

  • You are coordinating two parties separately before putting them both on a conference, and want to brief each one individually first.

How parallel calls work in Voxbi

  1. Put your active call on hold

While in a call on the Voxbi app, press the hold button. The caller hears hold music and the line stays open.

  2. Dial or answer the second call

You can make a new outbound call or pick up a second incoming call. The Voxbi app keeps both calls visible on screen.

  3. Switch between the two calls

Tap or click the held call to resume it and automatically hold the other. Both remain connected until you choose to end them.

Frequently asked questions

Does the first caller hear my second conversation?

No. When a call is on hold the other party hears hold music only. Your microphone is not transmitted to them.

Can I have more than two calls at the same time?

Voxbi lets you hold one call and start a second at the same time. If you need higher simultaneous call capacity, check your Voxbi plan details.

What if I do not want to answer a second incoming call while I am busy?

You can let it go to voicemail, or set your status to do not disturb to prevent further incoming calls from interrupting you while you are occupied.
