Tap to call

Tap any phone number on your mobile to call it through Voxbi.

Tap to call means that when a phone number appears as a tappable link on your Android device (on a web page, in an email, in a document, or inside another app), you can tap it and choose the Voxbi app to place the call. The call then goes through your Voxbi business line rather than your personal mobile number, so the person you are calling sees your business number and the conversation is handled by the Voxbi phone system like any other business call.

For anyone working from a mobile phone, this removes the small but repetitive task of switching between an app where you found the number and your dialler to type it in. It also keeps your personal number private when you call clients or leads from your phone.

When you'd use tap to call

  • A field technician or sales person who looks up contacts on a mobile browser and needs to call them immediately from their business line.

  • Remote workers who use their personal Android phone for business calls and want every outgoing call to show the company number.

  • Teams using a CRM or helpdesk app on mobile, where tapping a contact's number should route through the business phone system, not a personal SIM.

How tap to call works in Voxbi

  1. Install the Voxbi app on your Android device

Log in with your Voxbi account.

  2. Grant the app calling permission

In your device settings, allow the Voxbi app to access your phone's calling feature. This one-time step is required for Voxbi to appear as a calling option when you tap a number.

  3. Tap a linked phone number anywhere on your device

When Android asks which app to use, select Voxbi. You can also set Voxbi as your default calling app so the choice is made for you automatically.

  4. The call goes through your Voxbi line

The call connects through the Voxbi phone system, using your business number as the caller ID and giving you access to your usual call features.

Frequently asked questions

Does tap to call work on iPhone as well?

The available documentation describes tap to call for Android specifically. Check the Voxbi app page or contact support for the current behaviour on iOS.

Will the person I call see my business number or my mobile number?

When you call through the Voxbi app, the call is routed through your Voxbi business line, so the recipient sees your Voxbi number rather than your personal mobile number.

Is tap to call the same as click to call?

They serve the same idea on different platforms. Tap to call is the mobile version: tapping a linked number on Android and routing through the Voxbi app. Click to call covers the web and Windows desktop experience. See the click to call feature page for a full comparison across platforms.
